CCS accounts provide secure access to district systems, applications, and resources for staff and students.
These accounts are managed through a combination of Active Directory (CCS Directory Service) and cloud-based identity services to support both on-site and remote access.
Your CCS account is your primary login and is required for daily access to district technology.
Account Sign-In Formats
- Email / Username (Preferred): username@columbus.k12.oh.us
- Domain: ccs\username or username@ccs.local
- SAM Account: username
Account Types
- Teacher and Staff Accounts
Used by teachers, administrators, and support staff. These accounts follow stricter security policies to protect district data.
- Student Accounts
Designed to support classroom access and learning continuity. These accounts typically follow more flexible policies to reduce disruptions.
Authentication & Access
Password Policy
Staff Accounts
- Minimum length: 8 characters
- Password complexity required
- Password history: last 10 passwords remembered
- Password expiration: every 90 days
Student Accounts
- Follow standard domain policy
- Typically less restrictive for classroom access
- Default format often based on student information
Account Recovery & Support
- Self-Service Password Reset: Allows staff to reset passwords without contacting the Help Desk (MFA registration required).
- Help Desk Support
Available for account lockouts, access problems, or account-related issues.
