🏠 Offsite Password Reset Caveats (Domain-Joined Devices)

Challenges:

  • If you reset your password while offsite (Non-CCS Network), your domain-joined laptop may not immediately update its cached credentials.
  • This can result in login failures or account lockouts until the device reconnects to the CCS network and syncs with the CCS.local domain.

Solutions:

  • Summer Break Password Reset: See Troubleshooting
  • VPN Access: If you're offsite, connect to the CCS VPN after resetting your password to sync credentials with the domain controller.  You will need to lock & unlock your computer while connected to the vpn for the password to sync.

🔄 Syncing Passwords on Domain Computers After Reset

Best Practices:

  1. Reset Password while on the CCS Network.

Troubleshooting:

  • After resetting your password via SSPR:
    • Go to a CCS location.
    • Connect your device to the "CCS-Private" wireless network.
    • Lock your computer (Ctrl + Alt + Delete).
    • Log in using your new password.
  • Windows will automatically update your cached credentials.
  • If login fails:
    • Ensure the device is connected to "CCS-Private" only.
    • Avoid using "CCS-Personal" or "CCS-Guest" networks.
