Network Drop

A network drop is a wall outlet with an Ethernet jack that lets a computer, phone, printer, or other network device connect to the district network. Request a new, moved, or repaired drop for your office or area.

How we use Network Drop

  • Providing a wired Ethernet connection point at a wall outlet
  • Connecting computers, phones, printers, and other network devices directly to the district network
  • Giving devices that stay in one place a more stable, secure connection than Wi-Fi

Before you start your request

  • Include the room number and exact location for the drop
Requires your supervisor's or principal's approval

DataComm Responsibilities:

  • Running cable from an existing network switch to the new location
  • Installing new CAT6 cable, an RJ45 connector, and a wall outlet
  • Moving or repairing existing network drops
  • Communicating the installation date once the request is approved
