Understanding these icons can help you quickly identify and resolve common file synchronization issues.

If you do not see OneDrive icons in the notification area, OneDrive may not be installed, may not be running, or may be hidden.

Error & Attention Icons

Icon Meaning Recommended Action
  File or folder synchronization error. Open OneDrive and review the reported sync issue.
Warning requiring user attention. Open OneDrive and review alerts in the activity center.
Account frozen or restricted. Review account status and contact Microsoft or IT if needed.

Sync Status Icons

Icon Status
Syncing is paused.
Sync currently in progress.
Not signed in or OneDrive setup incomplete.

Shared & Special Icons

Icon Meaning
File or folder has been shared.
Shortcut to a shared folder.
File or folder contains restrictions preventing synchronization.
