Summary: An introduction to ClassLink for CCS staff, covering key terms, classroom benefits, student access, and basic troubleshooting.
Target Audience: Teachers, Principals, and School Staff
Overview
|
ClassLink is the district’s main application portal, called LaunchPad, for launching applications. It gives students and staff one place to access approved educational software using their CCS accounts, saving time by removing the need to remember multiple logins.
|
The "Digital Backpack" Metaphor: Think of ClassLink as a digital backpack. Instead of hunting down different websites and passwords, students and staff open one app to find all their approved learning tools. |

Key Terms to Know
1. LaunchPad
The ClassLink home screen. Clicking an application icon on your LaunchPad signs you in and opens the program automatically.
2. Single Sign-On (SSO)
The technology that allows you to sign in once with your CCS account to unlock access to all connected district applications without re-entering credentials.
3. Automated Rostering
The background process that securely passes class schedule details from district systems to learning apps. This automatically populates your digital classrooms with the correct students and teachers.
How ClassLink Streamlines the Classroom
ClassLink runs quietly behind the scenes to automate setup and access:
- Immediate Access: Students using district Chromebooks are automatically directed to ClassLink upon login. They can log in using their CCS password(Grades 6-12) or a physical QuickCard(Grades K-5).
- Consistent Experience: ClassLink looks and functions the same way whether users are on a school desktop, a personal laptop at home, or a tablet.
- Dynamic Rosters: Student's apps are automatically added or removed based on their class schedule, school building, or grade level. (though some apps may take 24–48 hours to sync to their LaunchPad).
|
Important Note: App availability is dynamic. Icons on the LaunchPad are customized automatically based on a user's school, grade level, role, or department. |
Common Questions & Troubleshooting
Why can't I see a specific application on my LaunchPad?
Applications are assigned based on specific curriculum needs. If a required application is missing for your grade level or department, please contact the IT Help Desk.
Why are students missing from my application roster?
The application likely relies on automated rostering data that has not yet completed its daily synchronization loop. If a newly enrolled student doesn't appear after 48 hours, submit a support request.
Why does a specific application still ask for an extra login?
A small handful of legacy or specialized applications do not support true Single Sign-On. These will require a one-time or separate manual login credentials setup.
| 💡 Pro-Tip: If a student can open an application but sees missing classes or incorrect assignments, the problem is almost always an upstream roster sync delay, not an issue with the student's password. |
Still Need Help?
If you encounter issues accessing ClassLink or notice persistent roster errors:
