This article explains how to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using your phone (text message or phone call) for your CCS account.

Important Notes Before You Start
- π± Using a mobile phone is recommended so you can verify your identity from anywhere
- π You can set up multiple phone numbers (up to three)
- π Phone-based MFA is less secure than the Microsoft Authenticator app, but still supported
Step 1: Sign In on Your Computer

Step 2: Choose Phone as Your Method
- Click I want to set up a different method


Step 3: Enter Your Phone Number
- Enter your phone number
- Choose one of the following options:
- π© Text me a code
- π Call me
- Click Next

Step 4A: Verify Using Text Message
If you chose text message:
- Check your phone for a 6-digit code
- Enter the code on your computer
- Click Next

Step 4B: Verify Using Phone Call
If you chose phone call:
- Answer the call from Microsoft
- You will hear a message:
βThis is Microsoft. If you are trying to sign in, press the pound keyβ¦β
- Press # (pound key) on your phone
- Click Next on your computer

Step 5: Finish Setup
- Click Done
- Continue signing in
π Some users may be prompted to set up the Microsoft Authenticator app afterward

What Happens Next?
- When signing in, you will receive either:
- A text message with a verification code
- A phone call asking you to confirm your login
- This adds a second layer of security to your account
β Troubleshooting Tips
- Make sure your phone has signal or service
- Double-check the phone number entered is correct
- If you do not receive a code or call, try the other option (text vs call)
- If you still cannot verify, contact the CCS Helpdesk
