Powering On (where is the power button?)
Locate the power button on the
right edge
of the laptop, near the front corner.
Press once to power on. To sleep, tap the power button briefly; use the Start menu for Restart or Shut down.
Laptop Ports (quick recap)
2 × USB-A (USB 3.2 Gen 1, one is “Always On” charging)
2 × USB-C (one USB 3.2 Gen 2; one Thunderbolt 4/USB4), both support Power Delivery & DisplayPort 1.4
HDMI 2.1, 3.5mm audio combo jack, microSD card reader
No built-in RJ-45 Ethernet (use the dock for wired network)
Docking (ThinkPad Universal USB-C Dock)
Connect the dock’s USB-C cable to either USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 port on the laptop. (1 to 2 in the screenshot below)
Plug the dock’s power adapter into AC and the dock. The laptop will charge through the dock. (3-4-5 in the screenshot below)
Connect external displays to the dock’s 2 × DisplayPort + 1 × HDMI. Use the dock’s Ethernet and USB ports as needed.
Hardware Keys teachers often use
Volume:
F2
= Volume Down,
F3
= Volume Up;
F1
= Speaker Mute/Unmute.
Brightness:
F5
= Down,
F6
= Up.
Display options (Project):
F7
opens display choices (Duplicate/Extend/etc.). If needed, use
Windows + P
for the same menu.
